Attitude matters..

My friend was telling me today about a girl who had a LOT of attitude. It is funny how words gain different meanings over time. What was my friend talking about anyway – was the person who he was referring to, someone who was not friendly or who would turn her face away with disrespect for people. Yes, in reality what my friend was telling me was she being ‘Not Approachable’.
But what I am talking about today is what this word actually means – your approach towards life. What my friend told made me wonder – is it a LOT of attitude or is it the RIGHT attitude that matters?
Since I’m a programmer I speak about the right attitude which requires solving a simple/complex problem in our day to day work. Attitude matters more than being intelligent or a genius in the IT industry or any other industry. If you see, all successful people are not intelligent and all intelligent people are not successful. What made the difference? It’s attitude towards life. They just did not want to work as we all do. They wanted to bring about the change in whatever they do. Right attitude leads to Creativity. Creativity leads to Innovation. Innovation creates Pioneers.
Technology doesn’t really matter if you know the logic to solve the problem. If you know the logic to eat food, then it really doesn’t matter if you are using a fork, a spoon, a knife or just your fingers. I mean, a spoon or a fork is just technology to ease up the work. But if you don’t know how to eat, then knowing technology will not help you.
If you are working in Nous, you are exposed to new cutting edge technology. So, your great academic records will not really help you excel here. Whenever we are assigned work, we always end up saying, ‘I don’t know entity framework, and I don’t know WCF’. Here is where the attitude comes to picture. Think, I’ve got an opportunity to learn new technology. Think, I can speak about it at an interview (that’s sure to fetch me some brownie points). If you have this attitude you will end up excelling in this frequently changing technology.
So what Success really means? My mother says I’m successful, so it’s time to get married. For her success means job. But for me it’s when I see lakhs in my account every month. For an actor it’s when he gets consecutive blockbuster hits. For a politician when he becomes a PM. So whatever goal we have, we need to have right approach along with the right ATTITUDE to meet it.
